The Cannons
The cannon is a generic or family name and a basic symbol for all tube Artillery pieces. The family is generally sub-divided into Guns, Howitzers and Mortars depending on the length of their tubes and the type of trajectory followed by their projection. Gold symbolizes loyalty to the country, President, unit and to the manoeuvre force.

The Bomb
The bomb is the ultimate weapon delivered for destruction of the enemy. Positioned above the cross barrels, it also symbolises accuracy, timeliness and firepower of all Artillery Units.

The Red Background
Red is for fire - thus firepower. No one can dispense with the Artillery in modern warfare. By injecting firepower at a crucial point, it changes the tide of battle. Firepower must come from the artillery as it is our main role.

The Blue Background
Blue symbolises 'royalty' and 'distinction'. Its interpretation for Gunners is that they are a 'Special Breed', a class of its own among the elite group.


Essentially the Singapore Artillery has two types of weapon, namely the 120 mm mortar and 155 mm Gun/Howitzer. The 120 mm mortar is the organic Brigade Artillery support weapon and the 155mm Gun/Howitzer is the Division Artillery asset. The incessant march of technology now sees the Singapore Artillery employing a formidable array of locally developed FH 88 and FH 2000 guns. With a crew of only eight men, these new generation guns can be readied for fire missions in less than two minutes and can be fired at a much faster rate.


Gone are the days of the 12-men M71 detachment, strenuously digging pits or the trail spades and manually jacking the gun into position - these images now serve only as fond memories and talking points during the gathering of Gunners.

The M71 - once the core weapon of the Singapore Artillery - was also upgraded in 1989 to keep pace with technology. The upgraded gun can now be put into action in 2 minutes by only eight men. The redesignated M71S was commissioned in 1993.

my bunk like no one gg OCS..
more pple gg units rather than command sch...

guess like wad my bunkmates always say..

and its such a ulu place....
